Weekly Round-Up
Kathleen Stock's Oxford University Appearance, Another Mermaids Scandal, and Pride Month!
Hello everyone,
Here are some of the biggest stories to emerge over the past week:
1. Kathleen Stock’s Oxford University Appearance
As I said in my TalkTV interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer: if you didn’t know the context behind Dr Stock’s appearance at Oxford University, you might think that she was on trial for war crimes. Such was the level of vitriol and abuse being hurled at her, necessitating several bodyguards being present, in case things kicked off.
Thankfully, her talk was able to proceed.
As was observed once again during this talk and her appearance in the Channel 4 Documentary, Gender Wars, Dr Stock is a reasonable, measured and highly intelligent individual, who has been thrown to the wolves, simply for daring to stand up for biological reality.
However, we witnessed a sorry state of affairs in terms of disruption that is now commonplace on university campuses during such events. Police had to remove student activists who managed to infiltrate the Oxford Union debating chamber, shouting “no more dead trans kids”.
The most pitiful sight of all was Riz Possnett, a trans activist who glued her hand to the floor, in order to prevent the talk going ahead. It took 5 police officers to remove her. Possnett’s Twitter biography has the word ‘activist’ placed before the word ‘student’. This is intentional. Unfortunately, society has created a breed of students who see themselves as activists, first and foremost.
