Here are some of the biggest stories to emerge over the last week:
Gender Clinic Concerns
Many breathed a major sigh of relief when it was announced, off the back of the ongoing Cass Review, that the Tavistock was closing. After years of whistleblowing regarding safeguarding concerns and children being fast-tracked down an affirmative pathway of irreversible medical transition, at last something was being done.
Hannah Barnes’ excellent book, Time to Think, only underlined and reinforced these concerns, making it clear that closure of the clinic was necessary.
It was announced that a series of regional clinics, operating under a new framework, would replace the Tavistock. It wasn’t clear what these would look like in reality.
However, today it has emerged that there are significant concerns regarding the proposals for these new clinics.
